How to Play “Wake Me Up When September Ends” Preview

Have you ever been with a group of friends when a song comes on and within seconds somebody knows what it is? With so many songs in the world how do they know so quickly? One of the hallmarks of a great song is a unique and memorable intro. Some examples of records with great, recognizable introductions are: “Hard Day’s Night” by the Beatles, “Gimme Some Lovin’” by the Spencer Davis Group, and “Every Breath You Take” by the Police. See links at the end. A great intro grabs the listener and pulls them into the song. With a little thought you can probably come up with at least another half-dozen tunes with great intros.
