Take a look behind the doors of an iconic building that’s played a major role in music history.
Paula Salvatore, whom we profiled in our May 2017 What Do You Do page, has been managing Capitol Studios in Hollywood, Calif., for more than 25 years. The facility that she runs is famous enough in itself; a dazzling array of music luminaries have recorded there, from Frank Sinatra to Taylor Swift. But this three-studio complex is just one part of an even more celebrated building: the Capitol Tower. A true Hollywood landmark, the Tower opened in 1956 and has been the central headquarters of Capitol Records ever since. Usually it would be impossible for a random visitor to see the place where Salvatore works every day, but in 2010 Capitol opened the tower and studios up for a rare public tour—and, as you can see below, the occasion was documented on video.
