Being a solo act isn’t all that tough in the 21st century if you’ve got the right gear. Looping pedals and other effects can turn one person into an entire band. In the video clip below, an acoustic guitarist uses a DigiTech TRIO+ pedal to create a song with five distinct sections. First, he plays a part on his guitar’s lower strings that suggest a bass line. The pedal tracks what he plays and automatically generates realistic-sounding bass and drum parts to match. Then he adds several guitar parts on top to fill out the sound. Now he has a whole collection of related looping (repeating) parts, which he saves as Part 1 of the song. He takes the same approach for Part 2, and so on.
