Yes, a cymbal really does bend when you hit it with a stick.

That bending is impossible for us to see because 1) it happens so quickly and 2) the cymbal is also moving back and forth at the same time. The drastically slowed-down video below, however, clearly shows the incredible liquefaction of a solid metal object—and, for no extra charge, you can also watch a similar process at work when a snare drum is struck.
