“Mary Poppins” may not be the only nanny to bring her story to the London stage. Academy Award winner Emma Thompson is at work adapting her 2005 adventure film “Nanny McPhee” as a stage musical, according to Playbill.com.
Thompson starred as the titular nanny in the 2005 film, which she adapted from Christianna Bran’s children’s series Nurse Matilda.
Thompson will direct and write lyrics for the musical adaptation that she is co-writing with Scottish singer songwriter Gary Clark.
Nanny McPheeis heading toward an October workshop, with the aim of premiering the show in the West End by the 2019-2020 season.
