Neon Trees Lead Singer Tyler Glenn & Carrie St. Louis to Join Broadway’s “Kinky Boots”

Tyler Glenn, the lead singer of the multi-platinum rock band Neon Trees, will make his Broadway debut in the Tony-winning “Kinky Boots” in May, according to Playbill.com.
Glenn will take over the role of Charlie Price beginning May 6 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. The singer, whose Neon Trees song “Everybody Talks” was a Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, will play a limited run through July 15. He will succeed “American Idol” winner David Cook, who continues as Charlie through May 5.

In other Kinky Boots news, Carrie St. Louis (“Wicked,” “Cruel Intentions”) will take over the role of Lauren beginning May 4. She will follow Kirstin Maldonado, who takes his final bow May 3.
As previously announced, J. Harrison Ghee, who can currently be seen in the Paper Mill Playhouse world premiere of “The Sting”, will return to the role of Lola May 1, following Wayne Brady, who concludes his return engagement April 26.

“I’m over the moon to make my Broadway debut playing Charlie Price,” Glenn said. “I love this show and its message of inclusion and its genuine sweetness and humanity. Plus, it’s just so much fun. I’m honored to be a part of the family and rock the boots all summer long!”

The winner of six 2013 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, “Kinky Boots” features a Tony Award-winning score by Cyndi Lauper, a book by Tony winner Harvey Fierstein, and direction and choreography by Tony winner Jerry Mitchell.
