Subway Singer Finds Fame

After singing in New York subway stations for decades, Alice Tan Ridley has finally released her first album—at the tender age of 63.

The album is called Never Lost My Way, and here’s a video for one of its songs: “Try a Little Tenderness,” a pop standard from the 1930s that was famously reinterpreted by singer Otis Redding in the ’60s.

If you want to find out more about Ridley, go to her website, which features an excellent article about her that was recently published in The New York Times.
