The man behind what may just be the world’s most massive set of drums shows how it’s put together.
For the first two decades of Terry Bozzio’s career, he played drums for Frank Zappa, Missing Persons, Jeff Beck, and many others. In the 1990s, he began to develop his own solo act, which would eventually require the construction of an enormous drum kit. Affectionately referred to as “The Beast,” it allows him to play melodies and chords on drums. In this time-lapse video with commentary by Bozzio, you can watch as the kit is painstakingly assembled piece by piece.
And here’s Bozzio putting “The Beast” through its paces on an original composition called “Pat’s Changes.”
