These days, popular music is often recorded and performed with the help of software “plug-ins” that change the sounds of instruments, vocals, environmental noises and electronic tones.

In the context of music creation, plug-ins are software tools that add specific features or functions to a digital audio workstation (DAW) or another music production device. They’re used to process audio and modify sounds. Seems simple, but some of the details we’re about to discuss may sound complicated, and there’ll probably be some terms with which you aren’t familiar.
