Despite multiple platinum records, a Grammy nomination, and 30-date headlining tours, she’s still a girl from rural Maryland, where she lived on a farm until she was 18. Maggie Rogers’ first entry into life outside the farm was the concrete jungle of New York City. She moved there to attend New York University’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music. She didn’t have a cellphone, Wi-Fi or TV before that, and the big city provided a severe culture shock, to say the least. Being an artist in New York provided a new interpersonal dynamic for Rogers. “I had never met anybody (who) had alternative motives before; I thought anyone that was nice to me wanted to be my friend,” Rogers said to The Guardian...
